KCB Group has recorded an 18.27% drop in its half year earnings at Kshs. 16 billion. This drop is attributed to higher operating costs in the first half of 2023 compared to the previous period under review, as well as loan defaults of Kshs. 40.4 billion. Operating costs rose 48% to Kshs. 40.4 billion due to staff restructuring costs and inherited legal claims.
