As Kenya joins the world in marking tuberculosis (TB) day, the Kenya medical research institute (KEMRI) has announced two promising new TB vaccines for children and adults. According to KEMRI, the two vaccines which are in final clinical trials will see TB treatment period reduced from 6 months to a period of 4 months. KEMRI said the two vaccines were tried on adults and children in Nairobi and Siaya counties. The government has also promised to increase budgetary allocation for community health volunteers coming to April as a motivator tool in administering health care and in turn fighting TB.
