Kengen to sell four million tons of carbon credits

    Kenya Electricity Generating Company KenGen, has received the green light to sell four million tonnes of carbon credits. This follows the finalization of the verification process that led to the issuance of the emissions to six KenGen projects by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The state-owned firm is changing tact to focus on the production of green energy. More than eighty six percent of the energy produced by the Company is from clean sources namely wind, hydro and geothermal. Kenya is Africa’s largest geothermal energy producer and among the top ten in the world.
