Kenya’s pest control market is under tighter scrutiny as the Pest Control Products Board steps up efforts to eliminate unregistered and counterfeit pesticides from the country. Speaking at the opening of the 7th China (Africa) Agricultural Chemicals Summit in Nairobi, the board revealed that increased enforcement and awareness campaigns have driven counterfeit products down from 18 per cent a decade ago to just 2 per cent today. Over 75 per cent of pest control products used in Kenya are imported from China, underscoring the need for stronger regulation from production to disposal.
