The Principal Secretary of Trade, Regina Ombam, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the full implementation of the World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). The Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) came into force on 22nd February 2017. It represents a pivotal advancement in promoting efficient international trade by simplifying and harmonising cross-border trade procedures. It is the first multilateral agreement concluded under the WTO since its inception and the first major agreement successfully finalised as part of the Doha Round negotiations. The TFA is designed to expedite the movement, release, and clearance of goods across borders, aiming to reduce bureaucratic delays and lower trade transaction costs globally.
