Kenya’s exclusive breastfeeding rate drops

Only 60% of infants under 6 months are exclusively breastfed, with only 60% breastfed after the first hour of birth. According to the Ministry of Health, this is attributed to stigma, cultural beliefs, inadequate maternal health information and the availability of breast milk substitutes. Mothers have been encouraged to exclusively breastfeed their young ones for six months and continue for two years and beyond after weaning.
