Health services in Kericho County have once again been disrupted after members of the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM) launched a fresh strike, affecting service delivery in public hospitals.
Speaking in Kericho Town, KNUNM Kericho Branch Secretary Geoffrey Tarus accused county officials of intimidating union leaders and healthcare workers, claiming his life was in danger.
The union is demanding the full implementation of the 2017 return-to-work formula, the conclusion of the pending Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), timely promotions, and improved career progression.
Branch Chairman Peter Rono also claimed that some healthcare workers employed on contract have gone for more than four months without receiving their salaries, urging the government to intervene.
The union insists the strike will continue until its demands are met and the safety of health workers is guaranteed.
