Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN),Kisii branch, has called off its strike after agreeing on a deal with the county government. Representing the governor, Simba Arati, the deputy governor, Charles Obebo, signed a return- to- work formula with the nurses, and allayed fears of paralysis in the health sector. The deputy governor commended the healthcare providers of going all out to ensure that patients in the county are not forced to travel out of the region to seek medical services. Among the contentious issues the nurses raised were failure by the employer to re-designate special nurses, provide comprehensive health insurance cover and implement the 2024 SRC salary structure.
