The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights now wants the government to ensure that justice is served for the families of victims of protests and demonstrations. The commission, while lauding the establishment of mechanisms to compensate the victims, as set up by the president, also wants the government to go beyond the envisioned monetary compensation to include accountability and justice. The commission also wants the government to implement policies and laws that guarantee the enjoyment of human rights and the protection of defenders’ rights.
