Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has revealed that inadequate funding has hindered the National Police Service from conducting recruitment over the past three years. Speaking before the National Assembly Committee on Internal Security, Kanja stated that KSh 6.3 billion is needed to recruit 10,000 officers. A proposal to digitize the recruitment process was rejected by part of the committee.
