Resource based conflicts in Laikipia County are set to be a thing of the past following the drafting of the Laikipia County Rangeland Management Bill. If enacted into law, it will guide pastoralists on how to avoid overgrazing and conserve community land. Laikipia County has in the past experienced perennial conflicts due to grazing fields and scarce water resources. The draft bill which has already been endorsed by the county executive will further help in developing measures to eradicate invasive plants that have spread in most parts of Laikipia North sub-county displacing dozens of livestock keepers. The Rangeland Management Bill is sponsored by the LISTEN project in partnership with Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) and county governments.
