Lake Victoria fishing communities seek faster infrastructure projects

Fishing communities from around Lake Victoria have called on the government to expedite the completion of infrastructure projects around the region in order to revamp the blue economy. The appeal comes as the government rolls out a 9.5 billion shilling investment in fisheries and maritime transport to unlock greater value from the country's inland waters. The 6 County governments around the lake have also invested in fish landing sites, cold storage facilities and other support infrastructure to strengthen livelihoods
