Lamu residents conducted a peaceful demonstration against a proposed coal power plant to be set up on Lamu Island, Lamu. The court in Malindi is expected to deliver its verdict on the proposed coal power plant project in Lamu. Residents and the Save Lamu organization had won an earlier case against the project, with the case cancelling the project. However, the project developers, Lamu Power, appealed, with the court set to make that decision on Thursday. The residents claimed the project will expose them to harm and are demanding that the government listen to their plea to stop it.
