The nationwide lecturers' strike has entered its second day as university dons defy a court order issued by Judge Dr. Jacob Gakeri, of the employment and labour relations court. The order temporarily restrains the university academic staff union (UASU), from calling, instigating, or inciting others to participate in any strike, or other forms of industrial action. Speaking at the university of Nairobi, UASU and KUSU leadership insisted they would continue the strike, arguing that the court order only prohibits them from issuing another strike notice, after September 18. The current strike notice was issued on September 11, seven days before the case was filed.
