Supreme Court Judge, Justice Isaac Lenaola has blamed political impunity and weak prosecutions for slowing down the delivery of justice both in Kenya and internationally. He noted that successful prosecutions depend on state cooperation which is often inconsistent or influenced by powerful political figures.
Speaking at a conference on International Criminal Justice in Africa, hosted by the Strathmore Institute for Advanced Studies in International Criminal Justice and the Wayamo Foundation, Justice Lenaola said Africa’s relationship with international justice remains complicated, with African voices still underrepresented in shaping global legal standards.
