General Francis Omondi Ogolla makes history as the 1st chief of defense forces in the country to pass away while in active service. The late Ogolla who died in a chopper crash Thursday, joined the Kenya Defence Forces on the 24 of April 1984. He was later commissioned as the 2nd Lieutenant on 6 May 1985 before being posted to the Kenya Air Force. The hallmark of his career would come last year in April when he was appointed and sworn in as the country’s chief of the Defense Forces of Kenya.
