Residents of Malaba have expressed fears of a rapid spread of the MPOX disease after a second patient was reported at the Malaba border on Friday. The truck driver who was traveling from Mombasa to DRC tested positive and he has been evacuated to Alupe Subcounty Referral Hospital in isolation to receive specialized treatment. The residents including the Malaba business community are now urging both the national and county government to do sensitization at the border to mitigate the spread of the disease to other areas.
