Ministry of Health set to roll out a 10-day cholera vaccination campaign

The Ministry of Health is set to roll out a 10-day cholera vaccination across eight counties in the country. the campaign targeting 1.7 million Kenyans comes following reports of cholera outbreak across parts of the country since October last year. Deputy Director General for Health Dr. Sultani Matendechere says in the last 10 months, 11,897 cholera cases were reported with 196 people dying as a result of the disease. the vaccination drive will focus on the eight most-affected counties, including Homa Bay, Kajiado, Marsabit, Nairobi, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, and Machakos where the exercise will be focused at the Machakos GK prison, which has experienced several cholera outbreaks.
