Kenya Power came under fire earlier today as Members of Parliament demanded answers over what they called soaring electricity prices. The Public Investments Committee grilled the utility while reviewing its books of accounts from 2018 to 2023. Kenya Power, however, maintains that the cost of electricity is set by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, EPRA. Company officials, led by the CEO, Engineer Joseph Siror, told the committee that while tariff setting is beyond their control, they are working to reduce system losses and improve operational efficiency to help bring down costs over time.
