Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed reports of an upsurge in Al-Shabaab attacks, reaffirming the government's strengthened counter-terrorism measures along the Kenya-Somalia border. Speaking from Embu County after chairing a security briefing, Murkomen acknowledged a recent IED incident that left three police officers injured but noted that one militant was neutralized, another arrested, and weapons seized.
Murkomen praised the collaboration between local communities, National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), and the National Police Service (NPS), attributing recent security successes to this unity. Wrapping up his Jukwaa la Usalama counties tour, he emphasized patriotism in fighting terrorism and called for recognition of the sacrifices made by security officers.
He also commended Mandera Governor Adan Khalif for working closely with security forces, a partnership credited with averting multiple attacks and reducing village and highway ambushes through improved intelligence and rapid response. _
