In a major victory in the fight against illicit alcohol, NACADA has struck a heavy blow to Nairobi's illegal alcohol cartels with a successful raid in Kawangware. A multi-agency team led by NACADA, including Nairobi Area Police, raided a major illegal brewing hub in Kawangware early on Sunday morning, uncovering one of the largest distilleries ever found in the county. Authorities seized over 50 active brewing drums, 480 drums containing illicit alcohol, and 300 bags of molasses. They also recovered 1,000 liters of ready-to-sell chang’aa and a variety of banned packaging materials. Three female suspects managing the distillery were arrested and are currently in police custody. NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa praised the operation as a major disruption to the city’s illegal alcohol networks and vowed to continue efforts to eradicate dangerous brews from the streets.
