Hosts Nairobi won nine of the 18 finals as the national novices championships came to a close at the Umoja 1 social hall in Nairobi County. Seven of the finals ended prematurely with the referees called in to stop the contests. Nairobi which had two teams in the championships won the first four bouts on the cards, with Elizabeth Maina of Nairobi 'A' forcing the referee to stop the contest to save Jennifer Wanjiru of Nairobi 'B' in the women 52kgs flyweight category. Jaspa Sagala from Trans Nzoia stole the show in the final bout of the night, the 92 Kgs super heavy weight category against Eugene Kamande of Kiambu. Sagala never allowed Kamande to throw any punches and the contest was over in the second round with the referee saving the man from Kiambu.
