Nairobi plans riparian evictions to curb flooding

Residents living along waterways and on riparian land in Nairobi have been issued with notices to vacate, as a multi-agency team from the national and county governments moves to address the flooding crisis that has affected thousands of city residents. The directive follows a meeting of the joint implementation committee on the cooperation agreement between the national government and the Nairobi City County government. But as Emily Chebet reports, business owners and mechanics in the Grogan area who have suffered losses worth millions of shillings want the government to prioritize desilting and unclogging the Nairobi River from upstream.
