The National Government has been called upon to right off university debt

The Universities Fund is calling on the government to right off university debts estimated to have accumulated to Ksh 62 billion from the previous Ksh 56 billion reported in June 2022. The Universities Fund argues that the staggering financial state of Universities is due to a lack of interventions and unstructured reforms. This comes just a few days after lectures at Egerton University threatened to strike next month following the 9 billion debt that has staggered operations at the university.
