Former Riruta MCA Samuel Ndungu Njoroge and two others have been slapped with a 30-year jail term after being found guilty of murdering his spouse Lucy Njambi Nyakio. The verdict by Justice Prof. Joel Ngugi delivered in a Kiambu court however did not augur well with human rights activists. There was drama at the courts as the activists caused fracas terming the sentence as a slap on the wrist that would not deter perpetrators of femicide. Our reporter Ruth Wambui has the details.
