Northern Water Collection Tunnel project underway

The construction of the much awaited multi-billion shilling Northern Collector Tunnel project is expected to resolve water crisis in Nairobi County. When completed, the collector worth KSh 9.5 billion will provide 140 million litres of water daily into Nairobi and the surrounding Kiambu, Murang’a and Machakos Counties.Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing testing and flushing of the pipeline Principal Secretary for the State Department of Water and Sanitation Julius Korir said the tunnel will channel water drawn from rivers Gikigie, Irati and Mathioya into Ndaka-ini dam.
