The nun who’s ‘mother to thousands’ of children displaced by the conflict in Tigray - BBC Africa
Emahoy Tsega Grimy was once a prosperous businesswoman in Ethiopia but became a nun and sold everything she had to help people displaced by conflict in Tigray, which broke out in 2020. She says she was feeding 24,000 children a day at the height of the war. After her money ran out, she appealed for funds from the Ethiopian diaspora. And with one million people still internally displaced, she continues her work.
