A section of the Orange Democratic Movement party women league in Kisumu want Homabay governor Gladys Wanga considered for the now vacant deputy party leader position. The position fell vacant following the nomination of the former holders to the cabinet by President William Ruto.Led by the deputy speaker in the County Assembly of Kisumu Nereah Okombo, the women argue that Wanga has demonstrated rational leadership and her consideration for the position will not only elevate women leadership within and beyond the party but will also demonstrate commitment by the political class to achieve the two-thirds gender rule. They further argue that the Homabay governor holds immense potential to inspire leadership of accountability across all generations
