Over 1,080 Mukuru residents to move into modern affordable housing

The State Department of Housing and Urban Development has unveiled plans to provide modern housing for over 1,080 residents of the Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums. At a recent forum held at the Mukuru Met site, officials outlined how these families will transition to new, affordable housing units, marking the beginning of further development in the area. The project has also created employment opportunities for local contractors, laborers, and engineers. While many residents are excited about the new homes, some are expressing concerns about lifestyle changes and the higher rent of Ksh 3,800 per month, compared to their current rent of Ksh 1,500.
