Over 200 people took part in the inaugural edition of the March in March charity walk held today in Karen Estate, Nairobi. Participants, the majority of whom were women celebrating International Women’s Day took part in the 5.5km and the 4.7km walk starting from Kombe Road to Karen Waterfront Gardens. The walk organized by the Intrepid Foundation was aimed at raising funds to support anti-poaching programs in the Mara, empowering Maasai women to create sustainable livelihoods, and providing bicycles to school-going rural children and health workers in Kenya. The walk will be held annually with the possibility of including road races to attract more participants interested in running.
