A JKIA law court has declined to have businessman Phillip Aroko detained for a further seven days and granted him a cash bail of 300,000 shillings The court directed Aroko not to travel to Homabay and not to confident the family members or the other suspects in the case. Aroko has also been ordered to deposit his passport and to provide evidence when required. The court had earlier been told that there are compelling reasons for the continued detention of Aroko, with the prosecution adding that investigators are still monitoring social media. Aroko, however, assured the court that he will cooperate with investigators after release. He was arrested as a suspect in the murder of former Kasipul MP Ong'ondo Were.
