Police crack down on Nairobi robbery gangs

Police in Nairobi say they have dealt a major blow to criminal gangs behind a wave of violent robberies targeting residents, businesses and motorists across the city. In a series of operations, officers recovered firearms, hundreds of stolen mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices. They arrested dozens of suspects linked to robbery, phone snatching and illegal phone trafficking. Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud said the crackdown is part of a wider effort to dismantle organised criminal networks operating in the capital. Muyanga Muthama has the report.
