Senior assistant Inspector General Japheth Koome found himself in a tight spot when he appeared before the administration and internal affairs committee to defend his suitability to serve as the country's next inspector General of police. Koome who has been in the police service for 31 years was asked to explain his position on the violation of Kenyans rights during the violence that rocked the 2017 election when he served as Nairobi Regional commander. The IG nominee was also tasked to explain how he will deal with the chronic corruption in the police service.
