Learners in insecurity-prone Kerio Valley will now pay 5,000 shillings annually as school fees following a directive issued by President William Ruto. The president who is on a three-day working tour of the North Rift said the move is aimed at encouraging enrollment in school and cushioning the families whose livelihoods are often disrupted owing to insecurity and flooding. The head of state also ordered the Ministry of Interior to resettle over 1,000 families displaced due to banditry within one month. Abdiaziz Hashim with details of day one of his visit.
