President William Ruto has instructed all ministries to lead in the tree planting exercise in the next 6 months beginning Monday to propel the government's target of attaining 30 percent tree cover by the year 2032. Speaking after leading Kenyans in the national tree planting exercise in Kiambicho Forest in Murang'a County, the President while condoling with the families who lost their loved ones as a result of floods said the only way of dealing with the effects of climate change such as floods and drought is by planting trees urging Kenyans to support the initiative. And as Timothy Kipnusu reports the President has in the meantime said his government is in the process of evacuating people who have encroached on riparian land.
