President William Ruto has pledged that his party will have a female Deputy President shortly. Ruto has also vowed to discuss with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua the modalities that would allow the inclusion of more women in leadership positions to enable realization of the two-thirds gender rule. On the other hand, council of Governors chair Anne Waiguru has put on notice Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s ambitions of taking over the top seat, noting that there are no deals in place after Rutos’ tenure ends.
