President William Ruto has moved to forestall a total shutdown of government services after he signed the appropriations bill into law. The new law gives the government the leeway to spend 3.9 trillion shillings while operating using the 2023/24 Finance Act, after the president failed to sign the 2024/25 Finance Bill following widespread public protests.
