The Principal of Kakuyuni Boys Secondary School in Malindi Sub County, Kilifi County Alphonse Kaingu is under siege after parents, students, and local leaders demanded his immediate transfer. The headteacher is accused of mismanagement and declining academic performance. Led by Member of Parliament Amina Mnyazi, the locals cited the deterioration of what was once a thriving institution leading to the student population plummeting from 800 to the current 285. They spoke during a highly charged meeting attended by Sub-County Director of Education Rashid Roba Adan, and Malindi Divisional Assistant County Commissioner Irene Munyoki.
