Protest victims demand release of promised compensation funds

    A group of protest victims under the banner of the Coalition of Victims and Survivors Against State Violence, has called for the immediate release of compensation funds promised by the president last year. Speaking at the Amnesty International offices in Nairobi, the group demanded clarity from the government on the advisory panel overseeing the reparations process, saying they have not received any communication on the progress made so far. The appeal comes after the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights completed a verification exercise that documented at least 1,500 complaints linked to cases of alleged state violence.
