Public University Unions have called on the government to immediately withdraw public institutions of higher learning from the State Corporation Privatization bill, 2023, saying every Kenyan has a right to education, further rejecting the idea of privatization of institutions of higher learning. Led by KUSU Secretary General, Dr. Charles Mukhwaya, the unions said that the proposed bill for the privatization of universities is a threat to the right to education in the country. This comes even as early childhood development and education teachers decry the move by SRC to reduce their salaries to 7,000 Kenya Shillings a month.
