Former Siaya mayor John Orwenjo Umidha has been buried inside his private house known among the luo community as “Duol”. Although the decision has startled the younger generation in the community , the family members say the burial was conducted according to his wish. The community elders also say that kind of burial is part of the Luo culture.Until his death, Umidha was the chairman of the ODM party in Alego – usonga constituency. Local leaders, led by Siaya governor, James Orengo have eulogized him as a friend who was a firm believer in the principles of the ODM party which he served with diligence.
