Residents in Rimoi on edge after woman mauled by hyena amid rising attacks

Residents of Rimoi, Elgeyo Marakwet County, are living in fear after a surge in hyena attacks linked to the ongoing dry spell. On Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, a woman identified as Helen Chepsergon was mauled while tending to her goats. She sustained serious injuries on her face, arms, and thighs before neighbours managed to rescue her and rush her to Iten County Referral Hospital.
