Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon Kenyans to come together and support families that have been displaced by floods that continue to wreak havoc and destruction across the country. In a statement, the former head of state is calling on volunteer medical professionals and healthcare providers to step forward and assist the sick and injured in the wake of a prolonged doctors’ strike. At the same time, Azimio leader Raila Odinga says the floods have laid bare the country’s failure to plan for weather and climate-change-driven disasters and the underinvestment in infrastructure and social welfare.
