President William Ruto has defended mandatory NSSF deductions, saying they are vital for building a savings culture. Speaking at Co-operative University during the installation of Dr. Benard Chitunga as Kenya’s youngest Vice Chancellor, Ruto noted that since 2023, Kenyans have saved KSh 280 billion—nearly matching savings from the past 60 years. The government aims to reach KSh 1 trillion in savings by 2027.
