President William Ruto has reaffirmed his government’s resolve to transform Kenya’s housing sector, declaring that he will go out of his way to ensure the country catches up with rapidly developed nations such as Singapore. Speaking on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Ruto noted that while Singapore was at Kenya’s development level six decades ago, it now boasts a 95 per cent home ownership rate, compared to millions of Kenyans still living in slums. He insisted that affordable housing remains the cornerstone of his administration’s plan to tackle urban poverty.
