Sakaja orders riparian clean-up, targeting illegal structures near Westgate

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has ordered for immediate demolitions of all structures built along river channels within the city of Nairobi. Sakaja launched the exercise near the Westgate Shopping Mall in Westlands, where he oversaw the demolition of a parking facility said to have been built on riparian land, warning that no structures on wetlands will be spared. The decision comes after Sakaja received a report on how to address flooding in Nairobi.
