The search for a military plane that was carrying Malawi's Vice-President Saulos Chilima and nine others is underway as Malawi president Lazarus Chakwera calls for nationwide prayers. The aircraft was reported missing on Monday morning after failing to land at the Mzuzu International Airport as expected. According to a statement from the office of Malawi’s President, the plane left the capital Lilongwe on Monday at 9.17 am and was supposed to land at Mzuzu International Airport, in the country’s north, just after 10.02am. A senior military official said the plane may have crashed in a forest in the north of the country. The Vice-President was traveling to Mzuzu to represent the government at the burial of former Cabinet Minister Ralph Kasambara, who died a few days ago.
