Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi, has firmly defended Senators against allegations of extortion and bribery made by President William Ruto. Kingi insists that the Senate uphold the highest standards of integrity in overseeing county governments. He further challenged the President to present concrete evidence if money indeed exchanged hands to influence Senators’ decisions during any impeachment process. Kingi also dismissed statements by ODM Leader Raila Odinga, who suggested that county assemblies, rather than the Senate, should oversee county governments.
