Senators vow to continue holding governors accountable

The Senate has vowed to continue holding county chiefs accountable over the use of public funds, dismissing attempts by the Council of Governors to boycott appearances before its watchdog committees. In a communication to the House, Speaker Amason Kingi ruled that resolutions by governors to suspend appearances before the County Public Accounts Committee and limit engagements with Senate committees violate the spirit of devolution. And as he announced plans for a meeting with governors in a fortnight, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, one of the four accused of extortion, threatened legal action against the governors.
