Sugarcane farmers protest closure of sugar factories

    Sugarcane farmers from Busia County have called for the lifting of the directive to suspend sugar milling operations, arguing that they have enough cane. Speaking to citizen tv, the farmers decried the financial implication of the directive, saying that they have more than 2,000 acres of cane ready for harvesting.
